Cowboy Archer

Here it is, baby! The truth you don’t want to handle.

Warning: It’s safer to go back to mainstream media where you can look the other way as America slaughters the world.

Aaaaaargh!

Please lie to me, Walt. I’m begging you. Please give me a quick fix of The Little Mermaid now! Tell me that we Americans are always the good guys and that the rest of the people of the world are a pack of suffering animals who require Americans to bestow our beautiful democracy upon them.

The Jets, Success, and Failure

It’s a good thing that Crazy Joe Benigno, the lunatic of New Jersey, a thoroughly distraught New York Jets fan, wasn’t standing over Thomas Edison, when he was trying to invent the lightbulb.

If so, we’d be breaking out candles.

Joe Benigno, like many other Jets fans, wants Zach Wilson gone – yesterday.

You see, Zach Wilson isn’t Patrick Mahomes. He’s not Joe Montana. He’s not Steve Young. He’s not Tom Brady.

And in New York City, the standards are pretty high.

I can understand this because Jets fans have suffered enormously over the years.

They had such high hopes for the season. But to tell you the truth, the Jets were probably only going to finish at best 8-8-1 with Aaron Rodgers at the helm.

There’s a reason why Aaron Rodgers went down after only four snaps.

The front line of the Jets isn’t all that great.

If his injury hadn’t happened by game one, it was going to happen in pretty short order for Aaron Rodgers.

You see, football is a team game.

You can have the greatest quarterback in the world, but if the front line can’t protect him, your results aren’t going to be all that great.

Maybe it’s a good thing that Aaron Rodgers was injured right off the bat

It spared him of the misery that was sure to happen if he continued to be the quarterback.

The Jets receivers aren’t all that great either.

Their ability to gain separation is on the order of peanut butter.

Those receivers, like the offensive line, like Zach Wilson need to learn the game also – the hard way.

Nobody’s pure here.

Nobody gets a glowing report.

I’m not saying this to be critical of the Jets. I’m saying this to illustrate that you can’t blame Zach Wilson alone for the failings of the Jets.

It’s a team game.

It’s always been a team game.

It’s the teams job to overcome all obstacles, internal and external, that are preventing it from scoring more points than the opposition.

I will repeat that.

It is the teams job to overcome all obstacles, internal and external, that are preventing it from scoring more points than the opposition.

Internal obstacles would be poor play from other players, poor, coaching, injuries, and so forth.

External obstacles would be poor calling from the referees, weather, fans interfering with the play, the other teams level of play.

It is always the team’s job to overcome all these obstacles; therefore, it is always the team’s responsibility if they lose – and if they win.

Knowing this, it is the responsibility of the Jets team to overcome any poor play that may come from Zach Wilson.

Robert Saleh is precisely correct that it is a team game.

They are stuck with each other.

Many Jets fans like Joe Benigno and Lord Mike Francesa (who I have always liked by the way) now want to bring in Carson Wentz, or Matt Ryan to take over the helm, as quarterback.

That would be a big mistake.

It would be poor for team morale.

It would be poor for the development of Zach Wilson.

As stated before Zach Wilson needs to get out there and get his ass beat as long as it takes to learn what doesn’t work in the NFL.

Thomas Edison had to learn what didn’t work when inventing the lightbulb.

He had to go through hundreds and hundreds of materials and elements to be successful in proving what didn’t work.

And it’s a good thing that he did go through that failure.

That’s why we don’t light up candles at night.

That’s why we can watch football games at night.

Success is forged in the crucible of defeat.

That is something that New York Jets fans need to understand..

It’s a team game, and Zach Wilson – and the rest of the Jets – need to learn the game – together.

Sincerely,

Archer Crosley
