Well, those young people at Columbia University and the other schools sure are giving it to the establishment, aren’t they?
They are giving these preening fat cats a lecture on American democracy.
They are telling them in no uncertain terms, if the establishment would only listen, what this country is about.
Our leaders, the people at Fox News – pompous fuckers like Ted Cruz, Lindsay Graham, Sean Hannity, and the rest – they denounce these young students.
They call them pampered rich brats.
They call them the spoiled rich.
They call them hooligans, ruffians, destroyers of democracy.
But the students unfazed keep on protesting.
The establishment – my generation – they think that they are in the right.
The fat cats say that the students are violating the constitution.
Alas, the fat cats are wrong.
They point out that the protesters are defacing monuments to the dead in World War I.
They scream that they are burning the American flag.
They holler that they are breaking the law.
Well, they are certainly doing much of that, but they’re not violating the constitution, and they’re certainly not violating the spirit of the people who wrote that constitution.
For our founding fathers were fundamentally violent rebels.
Our founding fathers, if you recall, risked their lives to engage in violence against the powers that be.
That’s right violence. George Washington used violence. Thomas Jefferson used violence James Madison used violence.
They told King George to take his laws and stick them up his fat ass.
At the time, the crown was the law in what was called British America.
Our founding fathers looked at King George square in the eye and called him what he was – an immoral man.
Our young people today do the same.
They do honor to the founding fathers by staring the establishment square in the eye in order to say: You are an immoral man and therefore unfit to rule.
You are an immoral man for killing and murdering these innocent Palestinian children.
What can our leaders say?
They fight back helplessly, engaging their lackeys at Saturday Night Live (and the coward Lorne Michaels )to display a skit making fun of the protesters.
How amazing is that!
When I was a young man in 1977 at the time when Saturday Night Live came on the scene, those original comedians were countercultural commentators.
They made fun of the establishment.
Stuffed shirts like Charlton Heston denounced them.
How things have changed!
Nowadays, the establishment, who belong to my generation, use Saturday Night Live to defend the establishment.
This demonstrates the difference between the country. I grew up in and the country that now exists.
Our country is now truly a fascist state. Our media is truly the child of Joseph Goebbels.
Undaunted, these young protesters keep moving on.
They know they’re in the right.
They are in the right.
When they deface those statues, when they burn the American flag, they are saying to fat stupid slobs like Sean Hannity, Ted Cruz, and General Keane: If murder of innocent people is what these soldiers died for, then these memorials and our flag need to be denounced. And if you don’t like it, then get off your fast ass and change your ways.
By doing so they place the culpability for the statues’ and flag’sdefacement upon the establishment.
How can we, they say, deface the memory of these soldiers and this flag anymore than you have already done?
That’s the rub. The real rub.
What bothers these elites the most is that these young protesters are shaming them. They are calling them out for their immoral behavior.
In that regard there just may be hope for this country after all.
Sincerely,
Archer Crosley
