Mowing the Lawn

Trump’s tariffs are nothing but a scam to rip off the American people once again.

It’s another mowing of the lawn courtesy of the ruling class for whom Trump works.

And we are the lawn that is being mowed. 

With his tariffs and their resultant economic devastation, Trump and his ruling class backers have once again stolen money from the middle class.

They are taking a major haircut out of the 401(k)s and savings of the American people.

That’s what it’s all about. It’s not about the altruistic helping of the American worker or the reestablishing of American manufacturing. That’s just the social cover BS.

Trump, is not a lunatic who rigidly follows the advice of a misguided professor, Peter Navarro.

Trump knows exactly what he is doing.

As the middle class sells it stock in order to preserve something of its retirement, the rich stand ready to pounce to buy up stocks on the cheap.

The tariffs which the American people will ultimately pay for put more money in a government which has shown no fiscal responsibility whatsoever.

If Trump were really for the people, he would’ve allowed the people to keep their money.

He would not have instituted a tariff war.

Instead, his tariff wars have transferred hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars from the middle class into the coffers of the ruling class and the government that they have hijacked.

Apparently, he’s not done yet.

What kind of president adds an immediate 25 to 50% tariff on China, our biggest trading partner from whom we get so many of our goods and then after China retaliates with a 34% tariff, threatens to add another 50% tariff on China?

What kind of lunacy is this?  

Actually, it’s not lunacy at all.

It only appears as lunacy.

Trump knows full well what he’s doing, and he couldn’t give a damn .

As a billionaire, and as a member of the ruling class, he is totally walled off from the harsh realities of life.

It doesn’t matter a wit to him if the stock market drops precipitously.

What does he care if Amazon has dropped 30% of its value.

It means nothing to him.

Nor does it mean anything to the ruling class.

You know, it’s always something with these people.

An in the course of my lifetime , it’s  been one scam after another.

The savings and loan crisis, the .com bubble, the subprime mortgage crisis, the COVID-19 lockdowns, and now this.

If history is any guide, this tariff war will not end soon.

It will end when the ruling class and Trump decide that there’s no more money to be made out of us.

Then it will be back to pumping up the stock market again – with them, the ruling class, having an even greater share of the pie.

That’s what it’s all about.

Power and money. Their power and money.

If the ruling  class cared about helping the American people and preventing a raping of the middle class’s 401(k)s and assets, they would have implemented measures already to prevent this mowing of the lawn.

They would have sent a congressional delegation to the White House to have a Hugh Scott moment with the president telling him in no uncertain terms that he will cease with these crazy measures or be impeached and thrown out of office within a week.

They would have sent the plunge protection team into the markets to prevent the stock market from dropping precipitously.

They would have encouraged and mandated  Congress to reassert  its constitutional authority in setting tariffs.

None of these measures were enacted.

Why weren’t they enacted?

Because what the ruling class desires is more money and more power, specifically your money and your power.

It doesn’t seem likely that the pain is going to end soon.

PS By the way, where was the plunge protection team? Do you remember them? They were out in force only a few  years ago. Apparently they only come out when the ruling class wants them to come out.
