So I’ve just spent the last hour listening to Norman Finkelstein talk about Trump‘s peace plan and what it means for the people of Gaza.
Essentially what he is stating is that this is no peace plan at all based upon prior experiences with peace plans in the past.
I have to agree.
The Israeli goal is to extinguish the Palestinians from Gaza. Israel wants every piece of Gaza, the beachfront land that exists there, and the oil and gas reserves it controls.
As such, Israel’s intention is to be unyielding.
In other words, the peace plan is a fraud.
Given that, what can Hamas now do?
If they refuse Trump‘s plan, they will be annihilated. If they agree to the plan, they will still be annihilated.
So on the surface, it would seem that Hamas has no option at all that is viable for their own survival.
But that does not mean that all is lost. There is something HAMAS can do.
They can do the following in no particular order of importance, and this is what I would do if I were HAMAS.
- Reject Trump‘s peace plan while stating that both the United States and the United Kingdom are not honorable parties to which any negotiated truce can possibly be honored.
- Announce and conduct the release of all hostages immediately at a designated area.
- State to the United States and the United Kingdom the following: “Do what you feel you need to do.”
And that’s it. I would offer no explanation other than that. I would amplify no further than that.
To say more is to say less.
The meaning should be clear. But since you the casual observer may not understand my reasoning, I will explain it to you point by point.
- Implicit in my first point is that I make no mention of Israel, and there is a reason for that. Israel is a creation and a puppet of the United States of America and the United Kingdom. I am declaring to the world that both the United Kingdom and the United States are dishonorable and not worthy of being negotiated with, not just here in Gaza, but with respect to all matters of the world. Not mentioning Israel‘s name is the largest indignity that I can deliver to Israel, far more important than killing people.
- By immediately releasing the hostages without condition, I remove any legitimate pretext for Israel being in Gaza. Quite frankly, the hostages never should’ve been taken in the first place.
- By telling the United States and the United Kingdom they should do what they feel they need to do, I am fixing my bayonet. The meaning should be clear.
Hamas and the Palestinians cannot possibly achieve a military victory.
But they can retain their dignity.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Archer Crosley
