Cowboy Archer

Here it is, baby! The truth you don’t want to handle.

Warning: It’s safer to go back to mainstream media where you can look the other way as America slaughters the world.

Aaaaaargh!

Please lie to me, Walt. I’m begging you. Please give me a quick fix of The Little Mermaid now! Tell me that we Americans are always the good guys and that the rest of the people of the world are a pack of suffering animals who require Americans to bestow our beautiful democracy upon them.

Aaron and the Jets

So what will happen with the New York Jets this season now that they have Aaron Rodgers?

I don’t think they’re going to be as good as they think they are.

The loyal long-suffering fans of the Jets think that they’re going to have a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

I don’t think so.

I don’t think they have any chance at all.

The fact of the matter is that the Jets weren’t a very good team last year.

Their record was only 7 and 10.

They finished last in their division.

Of course, the Jets fans think that Aaron Rodgers is going to come in and turn the team completely around.

I don’t think he’s going to have a good season next year.

Superstars who transfer from one team to another are still human beings.

They are still subject to the laws of acclimation.

It takes about a year before a player acclimates and feels comfortable with his new environment.

To Aaron Rodgers everything will be new.

The team will be new, the coaches will be new, the front office will be new.

In addition to that, he will be living in a new house in a new neighborhood. There will be new roads for him to travel to work, roads that he does not know.

All the stores and restaurants in his locale will be new to him also.

All this newness affects the brain.

For the brain to function optimally, a person’s psyche must be as calm as a glassy sea.

Anything that causes waves in that glassy sea will cause the person to be more dysfunctional in their performance.

That goes for anyone in any line of work.

Aaron Rodgers is not immune to that.

Consequently, I think he will perform at a lower level than he did last year.

Add to that the fact that he is no spring chicken anymore.

The results could be calamitous for the Jets given that their expectations are so high, and given that the organization of the Jets has not been a great one in the past 25 years

The Jets have basically had one great, and one good era in their history – the Joe Namath era and the Rex Ryan era.

That’s not a great track record.

In the first six games this season, the Jets have to play the Eagles, the Cowboys, the Chiefs, the Patriots, the Bills and the Broncos.

This is an extraordinarily difficult schedule.

The Jets could easily be 1 and 5 after the first six games.

If this occurs, the New York press, which can be tough, might step up the heat on Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers does not like to be criticized.

Moreover, he’s not accustomed to an aggressive press such as you find in New York.

He came from a more tolerant and loyal fan base in Green Bay.

If Rogers is affected by the New York press, things can go sour very quickly for the Jets.

Given Aaron Rodgers talent, though, I think he has the ability to pull the Jets to an 8-8-1 record this year.

I think the best the Jets will do is 9-8. I think the worst they will do is 8-9. So I split the difference at 8-8-1.

Next year will be a different ballgame.

Sincerely,

Archer Crosley
