We must change our attitude toward Iran.
We must see Iran as a friend instead of an enemy. We must also encourage our friend Israel to do likewise.
There is no natural enmity between Jews and Muslims.
It simply doesn’t exist.
Jews and Muslims have long coexisted in peace.
As Abraham Lincoln, the spiritual father of the Republican Party, and its guiding light, stated many years ago, “I destroy my enemies by making them my friends.”
Sanctions have not worked against Iran. Diplomatic isolation has not worked against Iran. Fomenting color revolutions have not work against Iran.
Supporting dissident political parties within Iran, such as MEK, is a non-starter. MEK is a Marxist party. Supporting MEK replaces one problem with another.
In addition, Iranians do not like the MEK party. They will never support them. The MEK party supported Iraq in its invasion of Iran.
Sanctions are another non-starter and non-productive avenue.
Sanctions have only driven Iran to develop a greater state of self-sufficiency.
Sanctions have also driven Iran into engaging in mutual relationships with other countries working outside traditional western institutions.
BRICS has been fueled by sanctions.
By employing sanctions, we have increasingly isolated ourselves.
We will get further with a lump of sugar than a switch.
We’re not living in 1953 anymore.
The world has changed..
Although we find a theocracy abhorrent, the Iranian people do not.
They want an Islamic republic.
They voted for an Islamic republic.
They do not share our values such as the separation of church and state. They fundamentally believe that their religion should be part of their governance.
There is a good argument to be made for that as we have seen here in the United States. The more than partial abandonment of religion by the people of the United States and its government have led to serious consequences.
We have become a more violent and uncivil nation even as we profess to be morally superior.
With this moral superiority as a sword, we have errantly marched out into the world to dominate other nations to great disadvantage to ourselves and the people of the world.
In short, we have become a global killing machine.
Given all this, we should recognize reality.
We should stop seeking hegemony over the Middle East.
America needs to become a more faith based nation and seriously abide by the principles that its leaders often profess to abide by (but do not).
We must see Iran as a strategic partner in its own right in maintaining peace in the Middle East. And so must Israel.
The alternative is economic doom for Israel, the United States, Iran and the other countries of the world.
Peace is cheaper and more productive than war.
Sincerely,
Archer Crosley
