I was recently asked how we could get the mighty to fall.
One thing is for sure, talking about it is certainly important. All action is based upon a belief system, and so it is important to share our beliefs through talk.
But at a certain point those discussions and beliefs have to translate themselves into concrete measures which is the point of this discussion.
What concrete measures can we take to enable the mighty to fall? What has worked in the past?
Well, here are some ways that the mighty have fallen in the past..
1. We could luck out with an enlightened leader who would bust up the monopolies much as Teddy Rossevelt did in the early 1900s. That doesn’t seem possible anymore, as the mighty have a death grip upon the nation. I don’t see any of the current candidates as saviors; rather I think they are frauds, agents of the ruling class. That is what we’re up against. Additionally there is good evidence that many of our presidential elections are rigged or manipulated by mainstream media which is controlled by, surprise, the ruling class.
2. An economic catastrophe such as what was experienced in the Great Depression might prompt the ruling class to come to their senses. The problem with this approach is that we have to wait. It’s not a proactive measure. Additionally the mighty are so freaking rich, they are largely insulated from any economic downturn. They could easily take a “let ‘em eat cake”approach to our welfare.
3. A foreign nation might decide to become the nation we once were and thus offer a lifeline to citizens who desire to emigrate. The problem with this approach is that we shouldn’t have to leave our country. Plus it’s not a proactive event. Still it may be the only viable option.
4. One method the Roman plebes employed might work. The plebes feeling abused by the upper classes decided to sit on their hands; they refused to go to work. That brought the ruling class of Rome to their senses very quickly.
William Domhoff, the academic who wrote much about who rules America, stated that you only get real change when you make the lives of the rich uncomfortable.
The protests over the Vietnam war were very effective in instituting change in American policy. The problem with this approach is that the ruling class is now very sensitive to this. Any protest movement will be quickly infiltrated and sabotaged.
5. Open rebellion. This is a-time-honored method that has worked in the past. The French used it in their revolution; we used it in our revolution. The problem with this approach in today’s day and age is that the ruling class has technological superiority over us. They can track our movements in so many ways.
6. We could sue the ruling class into a state of nonexistence much as Ida Tarbell did to John D Rockefeller in the early 1900s. Well, she didn’t exactly sue him into nonexistence, but she was largely responsible for the break up of Standard Oil. (The major oil companies that you see today, Exxon, Chevron, Mobil were all once part of Standard Oil.) The problem with this approach is that the ruling class now controls all the judges, especially those on the Supreme Court, adn those guys are signed, sealed and delivered puppets of Corporate America.
7. We could embrace Christianity once again. We don’t have to buy into all the mumbo-jumbo of the religion. We can become scientific Christians and accept the essential truths of Christ. No one has to believe in the miracles or the resurrection. We don’t need to ask anyone to believe in that. All we need to do is renounce wealth as the ultimate goal of society. I think this is the best approach because it doesn’t depend on us getting together to do anything. We can do it all by ourselves and it will make a difference in our individual lives. It was Christianity that ultimately brought Rome to its knees. Christians freaked the Romans out because Christians were not interested in the variuous traditions of Rome. They didn’t care abot getting rich either.
Given that, what are some of the techniques we can apply?
1 We can walk away from mainstream media which is nothing more than an advertising vehicle disguised as entertainment.
2 We can walk away from celebrities while recognizing that their real purpose is to marshall us into the cattle pens of desired opinion. Is it really necessary to pay $1000 for a celebrity’s show? Or $100 for an overpriced T-shirt? By doing so, we make the celebrity wealthier, and ourselves poorer. And then the celebrity turns around and uses his or her influence to elect politicians who institute policies which work against the people of the United States.
3 We can spend more time on reading and study. We can become a more literate society. Knowledge is the best vaccination against tyranny. Mainstream media oversimplifies history, which is often more complicated. By understanding this more complicated history we can make better decisions. We will see more easily that the good versus evil morality tales that the ruling class uses to justify their useless wars are often full of holes.
4 We can walk away from mainstream sports. We don’t have to go the whole nine yards but we can certainly cut down our viewing time by 25 to 50%. Sports figures like entertainment figures are now used by the ruling class to manipulate us. Additionally, we pay an enormous amount of money via the sports tax. Every single good that you buy has an added tax which goes to the networks which in turn feeds to the leagues which in turn feeds to the players. It’s a hidden tax upon you whether you watch sports or not.
5 When we eat out we can choose to spend our money on local restaurants rather than national chains. By contributing to the demise of the national chains we can put more money in the pockets of local people which is better for the local community. Supporting the national chains puts more money in some rich billionaire’s pocket. And more often than not, he or she will use that money to fund politicians who will institute misguided policies that work against us.
6 We can stop sending our children to Harvard, Yale and other Ivy League schools which indoctrinate them into believing that they are the best and the brightest and therefore entitled to make massive amounts of money at the expense of regular people. If you have read anything on my blog, you know full well that I believe that the Ivy League has done a poor job in ruling this country. They are another tyrant, and a bad one at that.
Well, of course they are not running the country well. Their whole shtick of an elite group of schools running the country goes contrary to what the Founding Father had set up. What the FFs wanted was a meritocracy. They were smarter than any of these Ivy League bozos, and they knew that intelligence is where intelligence is. You can’t make people smart by putting them in a certain school. That’s why the Constitution says “We the People,” not “We the Enlightened Graduates of Harvard University.”
7 We can choose to not watch financial programs on mainstream media. Shark Tank does not have to be part of our daily lives. Observing the Dow has become a national obsession. We need to walk away from the Dow. We need to walk away from our focus on money accumulation as the only solution to a better life.
8 We can insist that our publicly funded stadiums once again be named after people who have done honorable things, not orange juice drinks, banks, or tech companies. Naming a stadium after a corporate product sends a powerful message to the owners, the players and the fans. And what it says to us is that we are all about a dollar bill; consequently, we tend to care less about other people.
9 We can choose not to purchase highlty processed corporate food products which only serve to make us obese and more sickly. It may very well be that our increased rates of autism and cancer, and they are increased, may be due to the engineering that has been done to our food supply by Corporate America. The idea that increased autism rates are a function of increased awareness is ludicrous. Are you telling me that we were so stupid fifty years ago that we couldn’t detect when someone wasn’t able to talk or interact properly?
10 We can choose not to buy bottled water. courtesy of Corporate America. It has already been shown that there are more controls on your public water supply than on these corporate bottlers of water. Furthermore increased plastic waste, seriously harms the environment, and the food chain which ultimately leads to us.
Well, there you have it. It will take time to fix America, but it can be fixed, but only with a change in what we value.
